LOCALLY RAISED BEES
Our Nucs (nucleous colony) are raised here in middle Tennessee. Our 5 frame Nucs come with three or more frames of brood with one frame of honey and one frame of pollen. We offer two types of Nucs. The spring Nuc is started in mid-March and typically available late April. The Overwintered Nuc is started during the previous year. The Queen is monitored / graded based on brood pattern, temperament, and hygienics through the fall & winter and is normally available mid- March. The overwintered Nuc is the best way to start because the queen is proven and has been monitored for several months. Please note weather can delay the harvesting of the Nucs. We do not ship Nucs since Nucs are not designed to be shipped.

Information for Nuc Pick-Up
1. All Nucs were inspected a few days prior to sales date, were queen-right, free of queen cells and had brood in all stages.
2. These boxes must be kept cool during transportation, with cool air passing around and over them. Stopping for an errand and leaving bees in the car can cause their overheating and suffocation.
3. Please transfer the Nuc into a bigger box as soon as possible. These Nucs have at least 2 frames of capped brood and will begin hatching soon, which means they will begin to grow in population rapidly needing additional room and food.
4. As soon as arriving home, Nuc should be placed on location and their entrance open for increased ventilation and air flow.
5. Each frame should be closely inspected for newly started queen cells and all cells should be removed. Once the Nuc is installed into a larger box this potential pressure should subside.
6. Place the frames into a new box in the same order they are in the Nuc.
7. You do not need to absolutely see the Queen when transferring the frames. After transferring frames into a new box, bounce the back corner of the Nuc box a few times to dislodge the bees and pour/ shake them into the new box. If all the bees are in the new box, you should have the queen.
8. We encourage you to provide 1:1 syrup feeding for at least 2 weeks after installing the Nuc. Bees will grow rapidly when ample food is available, and they are fully established.
